All Sweet Watermelon Has a bright green striped rind, and bright sweet flesh. All Sweet is oval shaped and gets very large, up to 35 pounds. Few Seeds. All Sweet Watermelon Seeds do best when they are started indoors. Transplant outside once the soil is warm, after the last frost. Watermelons are ready to harvest when the rind can be pierced by your fingernail, the stem turns brown, and/or the melon has a dull thud sound when you knock on the rind.
