Cucumber Seeds - Palace Pride Cucumber - Hybrid
Other Common Names: Japanese Cucumber.
How to Grow Palace Pride Cucumber
After the last frost date passes, sow seeds directly into the soil outdoors. Keep the soil temperature between 60 and 90℉. If you seed indoors 2-3 weeks before the last frost, you will get cucumbers about 2-3 weeks earlier. Transplant the starts outdoors after hardening off for a week or two. See our free vegetable growing guide for more tips!
Keep the surrounding area free of weeds. Fertilize when the first blooms appear and periodically for the rest of the season to encourage fruit production. Mulching or sowing a cover crop on the bare soil and at the base of the plant can improve soil moisture levels during the hottest time of year. We recommend training Palace Pride to climb up a trellis or fence. Doing so improves air circulation and uniformity of fruit.
Harvesting Palace Pride Cucumber
Harvest when the cucumbers are between 9-11 inches long, and firm. Harvest as soon as the cucumbers are ripe. This encourages the plant to continue fruit production for multiple weeks!
Culinary Tips
Palace Pride cucumbers are often in gourmet Japanese dishes. They are ideal for cold cucumber salads, pickled or lightly cooked in Asian dishes. Making these into bread and butter pickles is especially delicious.
