How to Grow Green Stem Radishes
For larger sized microgreens, plant the seeds outdoors. Wash seeds thoroughly before planting, and scatter the Green Stem Radish seeds over the soil. Cover with a thin layer of garden soil. Ensure to plant during cooler temperatures, and in an area with full sun. Mid-spring (after last frost) or fall planting is best. Avoid overhead watering, and keep the soil moist. Harvest when the seedlings are about 3 or four inches tall, using scissors to cut at ground level is best.
Smaller greens can be grown indoors. This helps for both the size and for temperature control. Radish microgreens need to germinate in darkness, so ensure that they are covered for a few days. Once germinated, use grow lights, or make sure that the seedlings get 10 hours of full sunlight per day.
After about 8 to 12 days, it's time to harvest. The plants should be 3-4 inches tall. Use scissors, and trim the plant at ground level.
This tasty microgreen is great for use as a sandwich green, or in salads or soups. It can be added as a traditional lightly spicy green with traditional Japanese recipes like sashimi or sushi, or as a garnish for any dish, and is perfect for salads.
