How to Grow Asia Eun Cheon Cucumber
Cucumbers tolerate no frost; it is best to sow seeds directly into a moist garden bed or field soil after the last frost. Optionally, start some seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost and transplant them into prepared soil after hardening off. Planting the seeds or young plants near stakes or trellises and training them to climb vertically encourages better fruit and saves garden space.
Mulch or plant a cover crop on bare soil around the base of the plants. Covering the soil minimizes weeds and increases soil moisture levels. Fertilize when the first blooms appear and periodically for the rest of the season to maximize fruit production. Provide deep, regular water but ensure proper drainage.
Harvesting Asia Eun Cheon Cucumber
Fruit is optimally harvested when they are 7-9” long. Harvest promptly. If fruit removal is delayed, the plants might stop producing.
Culinary Tips
In Korea, sliced cucumbers are commonly stir-fried into a dish with beef. Asia Eun Cheon’s robust fruit is also renowned for food preservation and cooking.
