Growing Microgreens Starter Guide
Growing Pink Summercicle Radish Microgreen Seeds
No presoaking is needed for radish microgreen seeds. Spread 20 to 30 grams (about 2 to 3 tablespoons) of seed evenly across a moistened 10-inch by 20-inch tray filled with a shallow layer of potting mix or a hydroponic pad. Mist lightly, then stack a second tray on top to apply gentle weight during germination. Keep in a blackout environment for 1 to 2 days until seeds have sprouted and the roots have anchored.
Once sprouts emerge, move the tray to indirect light or under grow lights. Radish microgreens have a noticeable sulfurous smell during germination — this is normal and fades once they are in light and growing. Bottom watering is strongly recommended after the blackout period; pour water into the tray beneath and allow the roots to draw moisture upward, keeping the canopy dry and reducing mold risk. Greens are ready to harvest in 8 to 10 days when cotyledons are fully open. Cut just above the growing medium, then refrigerate in a sealed container for 5 to 7 days.
Benefits of Pink Summercicle Radish Microgreens
Radish microgreens are excellent for cardiovascular health, as they can help reduce arterial stiffness, manage blood pressure, and improve digestion. Their high antioxidant content is often more concentrated than that of mature vegetables.
Culinary Tips
Can be eaten raw in salads or as a crunchy layer on sandwiches or in rolls. Microgreens do not hold up well in cooking.
Stories/Tips From Our Gardeners
"It is the spicy crunch that they add to sandwiches or lunch rolls that radish micros are all about! I like these by themselves or grown mixed with other micros like cabbage or broccoli"
