Swiss chard is high in potassium, and is very versatile, it can be baked, creamed, and used in salads and soups. Swiss chard grows best in areas that are not too hot, at over 100 degrees F Swiss chard will start to struggle. They can handle some light frost. Start the seeds indoors and transplant outside when heavy frosts have ceased. Barese Swiss Chard can also be direct sown in the mid spring or late summer. If you harvest individual leaves off of swiss chard with scissors or clippers the plant will continue to grow for an ongoing harvest.
