DESCRIPTION
Growing Purple Italian Globe Artichoke Vegetable Garden Seeds
Growing Directions:
Purple Italian Globe Artichoke (Cynara cardunculus)Seeds should be sown indoors, and transplanted outdoors after around 6-12 weeks, and a few weeks before the final frost of the season. Sow seeds in rows 6" apart, with 4" between each plant in soil rich with nutrients. It is an excellent idea to use composted soil or mulch to insure that plants get necessary nutirents. Throughout growth, keep plants in full sun and water them consistently. Top buds will be ready for harvest earlier than lower buds. Harvest each bud individually when they reach full size or are a deep purple color.
Facts:
Most artichokes turn purple if they are kept on the plant after they should be harvested when they are green, but this variety is ready for harvest when it becomes a beautiful purple shade.
