Growing Organic Chadwick Cherry Tomato Garden Seeds

Sowing & Growing:

Tomato seeds are best started indoors 5-8 weeks before your region's final spring frost. Begin sowing annual tomato plants with a seed-starting container under grow lights. Plant seeds 1/4" in a warm and rich starting mix. Be sure to expose seedlings to heat and light for the duration of the day and turn them off during the night. Organic Chadwick Cherry Tomato seeds thrive in a temperature range of 70-90° with moist soil. Germination will take 1-2 weeks. Transplant young seedlings to 3" containers before hardening off and moving outdoors. Once summer tomato plants have 2-3 sets of true leaves, expose them to outside conditions. Sow Organic Chadwick Tomato seeds outdoors once your region's night temperatures don't drop below 55°. This vigorous heirloom tomato prefers full sun and needs 1" of watering per week, especially during fruit development. Allow the top layer of soil to dry before watering mature plants. Till rich, composted soil and prepare 8-12" holes. Remove the smaller leaves on each plant, leaving a single top set of leaves. Set Organic Chadwick Cherry Tomatoes deep in the hole, with only their top set of healthy leaves exposed. Space the plants 1-2" apart in between rows or in a container that is at least 18" deep for one tomato plant. Use stakes or a trellis to help the growth of sturdy indeterminate vines that reach up to 8-10" tall. As these clusters of bright-red fruit continue to produce until your region's first frost, feed them by scattering a fertilizer made of peat moss and vermiculite throughout development. This rich and full-flavored tomato variety provides an abundant crop as a summer season tender annual. All tomato plants thrive with extra nurturing. Using row covers or mulch will retain moisture and protect your plants for multiple harvests. Even though Organic Chadwick Cherry Tomatoes are disease and crack-resistant, these plants still need warmer conditions to grow their uniform clusters of 1-2 oz fruit. Heirloom tomatoes prefer rich, loamy and well-drained soil with a pH level of 5.5-7.0. This larger cherry tomato variety provides Organic seeds that are non-GMO and easier for new gardeners to grow!

Harvesting:

As Organic Chadwick Cherry Tomato seeds are an indeterminate variety, these vigorous plants should be ready for harvest around 70-75 days from the sowing date and will continue to produce bright-red cherry tomatoes until your region's first frost. Harvest by gently pulling the red fruit from their calyx hat with one hand, while holding the stem with the other. Harvest consistently to allow more growth. You can also use gardening shears so you don't damage the 1-2 oz tomatoes. As larger cherry tomatoes provide a rich balance between sweet and tangy. Pick your final harvest of tomatoes in early fall and allow them to ripen at room temperature.
