Growing Witloof Chicory Endive Vegetable Garden Seeds
Witloof Chicory Endive Growth Habits:
Plants grow 12-18" tall and produce light to medium green leaves. Sow seeds directly outside ½" deep and 1" apart in full sun. After four weeks, thin seedlings to be 6-12" apart. Chicory plants will grow with large green leaves. As it gets closer to winter, plants can be taken out of the soil. Green tops of the Witloof Chicory plant can be chopped off and stored.
Various Uses for Witloof Chicory Endive :
Witloof Chicory Endive makes a great addition to a salad as a green. In Dutch cooking, it is common to cook Witloof Chicory in a dish that involves cheese and ham called "Chicons au gratin."
