Covent Garden seeds have a wildflower-like hardiness and are most popularly sown outdoors directly after the frost. Gypsophila grows so vigorously that there is little reason to begin indoors, but for earliest blooms, begin seeds 4-6 weeks prior and harden off to a sunny place in the garden or decorative planter. Germination will take 7-21 days with full lighting. Lightly press 5-6 Covent Garden gypsophila seeds 36" apart into average, somewhat dry, and well-drained soil in full sun. Baby's Breath is also commonly broadcasted directly like a wildflower and evenly raked and tamped into the soil. Covent Garden gypsophila is a hardy full sun performer known to be very low-maintenance and tolerant to heat and drought. Baby's Breath can be so vigorous that it is considered invasive in many parts of the country. Do not overwater because gypsophila thrives in dry soils and can be susceptible to botrytis, aster yellows, and mold caused by saturation if not properly drained. Gypsophila has no serious insects or pests. Covent Garden gypsophila seeds mature in 77-91 days as 12-18" tall shrubby mounds with an 18" spread of dazzling ½" daisy blooms.

Gypsophila elegans, or more commonly known as Baby's Breath, is native to central and eastern Europe but has since naturalized throughout much of the world. Baby's Breath is one of the most familiar and popular ornamental flowers in the world, cultivated commercially as a delicate accent for many floral shops. Baby's Breath has earned the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Despite being a timeless and award-winning treasure, gypsophila is such a vigorous performer that it is considered an invasive species in much of Colorado, Washington, and the Great Lakes region.
