DESCRIPTION
Growing Rainbow Multicolors Flint Ornamental Corn Vegetable Garden Seeds
Rainbow Multicolors Flint Corn Seed Growth Habits:
Corn can grow as tall as 6' and have a spread of 1 to 1-1/2', so you will need room to grow rainbow flint corn.
Directly sow the Rainbow Multicolors flint corn seeds into the ground when the soil reaches 65 degrees F or higher. You can plant corn in rows or in hills. If you plant the corn in rows, space the seeds 4" apart in rows that are 18" to 24" apart, then thin the seedlings to 12" apart when they reach 4" tall. If you plant the corn seed in hills, plant 3 to 4 seeds per hill and space the hills 12" apart.
Corn is a heavy feeder, so be sure to add rich compost before planting, plan for aggressive weed control, and consider adding fertilizer during the growing season.
After the corn has tasseled, leave the ears on the stalk to allow them to dry out. Harvest the ears by twisting them or cutting them off the stalk.
Various Uses for Rainbow Flint Ornamental Corn:
Flint corn is primarily used for decoration during the fall, but it can also be used as livestock feed. The outer shell on the kernels of flint corn is very hard, and the kernels have far less moisture than sweet corn, making them unpalatable for people to consume.
Rainbow Multicolors Flint Ornamental Corn Benefits:
Flint ornamental corn provides an array of colors for decorating during the autumn months. Red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, white, and mixed kernels adorn each ear of corn for a beautiful display.
